Land Rover is planning smartly and is ready to earn some good cash in India with its new Defender. In fact Land Rover is planning to build-up its new car, Land Rover Defender in India itself at the Tata Motors’ manufacturing plant located in Pune, Maharashtra. The company might also send some of the models back to Europe for the final assembly in United Kingdom as a part of ‘reverse CKD’ process. Land Rover has a bit of practice in this and has already built Freelanders in the country to be sold in Asia. Chairman of Tata Motors, Mr. Ratan Tata revealed the plan of building new Land Rover Defender in India. He mentioned that the firm will have twin advantages of cutting down the manufacturing costs of the car, which would assist in selling it at a reasonable price in Europe. Offering Land Rover Defender at an affordable price will surely rev up the sales of the car in the key Asia-Pacific car market. The new Land Rover Defender might have a body-on-frame kind of make against the monocoque design. The new design will certainly keep the arrangement of the present models along with proffering enhanced and improved packaging, dynamics, controls and comfort level. According to the grapevine, the new Land Rover Defender is likely to sport enhanced and lightened version of much-appreciated Land Rover T5 ladder chassis, which is presently been used in Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery. The basic styling of the 2015 Defender will be done close to the fresh DC100 concepts by Land Rover. However, features like interior styling, grilles, wheels and lights will see a bit of change. If Land Rover Defender is manufactured in Pune, then some major parts like the suspension and Chassis would be shared with Tata Safari and Tata Aria.
