Buick unveils reskinned Enclave in bid to build on crossover success

NEW YORK -- General Motors today unveiled a reskinned Buick Enclave as it seeks to extend the success of the crossover, which has led the brand's revival from near extinction.

A new hood and black chrome waterfall grille are among the exterior styling changes on the 2013 Enclave, which is expected to arrive in showrooms this fall. GM is showing the vehicle at the New York auto show.

A restyled front fascia includes a new headlamp design and LED daytime running lamps. The rear fascia will feature integrated exhaust outlets and LED taillights.

Inside, GM has added ice-blue LED lighting around the dash, more chrome and stitching, and a new center stack that incorporates its IntelliLink infotainment system, which was introduced on several models in recent months and will come standard on the 2013 Enclave.

"We evolved the interior and exterior design, increased luxury amenities and materials, and engineered purposeful technologies that will make the Enclave continue to resonate with luxury crossover owners," Tony DiSalle, Buick's vice president of marketing, said in a statement.

Launched in May 2007 for the 2008 model year, the Enclave has emerged as Buick's No. 2 seller behind the LaCrosse sedan and has enticed buyers to switch from non-GM brands. Last year, sales rose 5 percent to 58,392 units. Nearly 50 percent of those buyers were conquest customers, GM says.Automobile News
